Sri Dandayudhapani Swami temple -Palani

I have been first time to palani and people can opt for rope car or can climb stairs.
We climbed the steps and on the way idumbar sannithi was there and few more godess sannithis ,so it was good and also many shops .

Finally reached the hill top and so very happy and planned to see the "Ucchikala"pooja weherein they do afternoon alangaram which we can buy tickets and see ucchikaala pooja.

Lord Muruga will be  in Raja alangaram,so very nice and still I can visualise Lord muruga.
Many people from different countries  and state came and it was a good experience.

We were waiting for the ucchikaala pooja,so we could peacefully see each sannithis,there is bhogar shrine here where few sit and meditate.

We can also buy panchamridham and viboodhi as prasadams which is famous in palani..

About Sanctum sanctorum:

1.The deity of sanctum sanctorum is made out of amalgam  of nine minerals known as navapashanam.
2.Palani is mentioned as 3rd padai veedu.
3.We could see golden gopurams,and paintings.

Why this name palani?
Lord shiva and goddess parvathi are seated at mount kailash,and lord naradha gives a fruit and both asked the same and lord shiva gave a small competition as going around the world .Whoever goes and returns back first  will get that fruit.
So ganapathi won the prize by going around his parents,and muruga came sweating on his peacock to find the fruit.
In anger ,muruga left his parents and came to thiru avinankudi at the adivaram,foot hills.
Lord shiva said you are the fruit-full of knowledge and wisdom and hence pazham-fruit,nee-you,pazhamnee and later palani.

While returning we came in steps ,and view from hilltop is so very good and could see rope car also.
very good dharshan .

Rajapathy Srikailashanathar Thirukoil

On christmas holiday we planned to go to temple,but had an idea that should visit temple which is not seen .
One friend of us told about this temple and we travelled as family to this temple.
It is in Eral,from eral need to travel to kurumbur.
one can also visit vana thirupathi if they want to see,it is nearby from there.
Rajapathy temple:
1.Among navakailasam ,the eight sthalam is Rajapathy.
2.It is a temple worshipped for kedhu doshas.
3.It is like Kalahasthi,wherein they perform pooja for rahu,kedhu doshas .
4.During 400 years back temple and village was awashed by river flood ,tamirabarani and one single thoon ie pillar was left.
5.And few took initiatives and formed Kailash trust who helped in constructing the temple ,4-5 years back and kumbashikam was over.
6.Moolavar is Kailasanathar and amman sannithi ,dakshinamoorthy,navagrahas,vinayagar sannithi is there.

And while returning back from Eral few brass things can be purchased,It is famous and good.

Vandiyur or Theppakulam Mariamman temple

I have been many times to madurai,but not seen this temple.Fortunately I got  a chance to visit this temple.
This temple is in madurai,2 km from meenakshi amman temple.
It is near Theppakulam,Mariamman is seen as main deity .
People offer pongal and also few replicas available like eyes,ear,which they pray and offer to god and put in hundial.
Mariamman theppakulam is famous for celebration of float festival in the month of thai.

Kulasekarapatinam

I had a plan to go to this temple many times.When my parents came we all went to this temple.
I have heard many people saying that navratri will be celebrated in a grand manner and seen in television too.

This famous temple ie. Sri Mutharamman temple is located near Tiruchendur in Tuticorin district.
Navratri festival is the grandest festival in this temple.
When maharaja kulasekarapandian was ruling the city,one day he had darshan of goddess directly ,henceforth this name .

Goddess Mutharamman and Nganamoorthiswarar are installed combined each other.
A very good temple to see.

Kadhir narasinga perumal temple

This temple we happened to go while returning from palani.It is on the karur dindugal highway.

Here Lord narasimha in his majestic posture blesses all the devotees.

Anugraha bairavar sannidhi -If a person starts any new job or buy any new product ,worship this lord for his blessings.

Chakkarathaizhvar sannithi is seen.

Lord anjaneya- Here in this temple Lord anjaneya is 6 feet tall,and only temple in Tamilnadu having aanjaneyar in Agni moolam.This is also one important feature of this temple.

Kamalavalli Thaayar sannithi is there.

People offer tulsi garland to worship and nice temple to see.

Vayalur Murugan-Trichy

Vayalur murugan is a famous Murugan temple.

For this temple I dont have much details to share ,if I happened to go next time I will have some more information to share.

We were travelling by car and  passing small village in and around  ,full of greenery ,many fields.
I guess that is why the name vayaloor -vayal in tamil means field.

It is believed that this temple is 1200 years old and moolavar sannithi is lord shiva and sthala vriksham is vanni tree.

Outside the temple there are many small small shops,one can buy some things .

Erumbeeswarar temple-Thiruverumbur

Erumbeeswarar is dedicated to lord shiva.This temple is in Thiruverumbur near trichy,on the way to tanjore.

This temple is called kailash of south India.
To see lord shiva one has to climb the steps,and it is good and people will enjoy .

Why this name-Erumbeeswarar?

There was a demon called Tharukasuran,he tried to destroy all deva's .Deva's were in panic and  went to devalogam and asked brahma as what to do,how to get rid of this demon.

Brahma told them to worship lord shiva in devalogam-thiruverumbur,so all devas transformed into ants so that the demon wont identify them and worshipped lord shiva.

Since shiva lingam was slippery and ants (Deva's) could not climb and was falling down .
They prayed to lord shiva and lord shiva saw their prayers and turned into ant hill (of sand) and they worshipped.

So this name Erumbeeswarar-erumbu-ant,eeswaran-lord shiva.

This is very nice temple and in the evening few sing thevaram.  one can travel in the morning rather than late evening.We went around 7.30 pm and came by 8.00 pm,so better have good darshan in the morning time.

Boologanadhar temple-trichy

I have been to trichy many times ,but have not seen this temple.Recently we went for the vinayaka chathurthi celebrations ,and that day we happened to see many ganeshas .
With lord ganesha's blessing our family went to this temple and happened to see seven ganesha on the same temple .

Importance of this temple:
One could easily reach this temple.And whenever we go to temple we could find one sthala vriksham and here we could see five trees and it is one of the temple in southtamilnadu having such kind.

The trees are Maghizam,Vanni,Vilvam,Kurandhai,Nelli.
Also there are seven vinayaka namely
Bala vinayakar
Mangala vinayakar
Nardhana vinayakar
Kodimaram Vinayakar(On the kodimaram)
Nagabarana vinayakar
Vanni maram vinayakar (Vinayakar  will be under the vanni tree)
Inside the main sanctum one more vinayakar.

Boologanadhar is shiva temple and around the praharam all these trees and different vinayakar is seen and also ambal sannidhi is there.

Krishnapuram-Tirunelveli

Krishnapuram is an ancient temple and located near tirunelveli enroute to tiruchendur.

The main deity is venkatajalapathi.

There are wonderful pillars of statues depicting one significance.One can closely observe  the nerve,nails,flesh in each statue.

There is a pillar of kuravan and kurathi,dancing girl,karna.

one could visit  this temple while travelling to tirunelveli or tiruchendur.

Madurai meenakshi amman temple

If anyone says madurai we tell meenakshi amman temple.Yes,this temple is so very beautiful and there are lot many things to see .

Here ambal and shivan sannidhi is there ,so one could go to both these two sannidhis ,and while circumbulating one can see Mukoorni vinayakar.

Mukoorni vinayakar:

During vinayaka chathurthi with mukoorni rice ,modhakam will be prepared and offered to god,which is auspicious one.

vibudhi pillaiyar:

This pillaiyar is seen near one of the entrance,where the idol is full of vibudhi ,few take handful and drop on the vinayaka idol.

There are east ,west,north and south entrance to go inside the temple,and  one can also see 1000 pillar mandapam,pottramarai kulam.

Opposite to meenakshi amman temple one suyambu hanuman temple is seen.

 

Thirumalai nayakar mahal is also another place to see.This is kings palace and museum is also there.

Enjoy seeing the place,and also dont forget to taste Jigarthanda,it is famous in madurai.

Vekkali amman temple-Woraiyur

This temple is in woraiyur ,and there is no shelter for goddess.

Amman is facing north side and it is believed by ancient kings that gods and goddess who is facing north will bless the kings with victory in battle.

Hence kings worship this temple before going to battle.

Sarama rishi lived in woraiyur having wonderful  garden,with rare flowers.He used to worship thayumanavar swamy of trichy everyday offerring garland made of flowers  from garden.

A local florist pranthakan saw beauty of flowers,and started taking from the garden ,to keep himself in good book of the king.

The sage found that he is culprit and complained to king.King did not hear this.

With much grief sage went to Thayumanavar praying to put an end to his activity.

Lord turned wild after hearing this and god was facing east till then ,he turned facing west with powerful eyes emitting anger which resulted in huge sand storm and spoiling whole city.

All places were covered with sand and all went to goddess and prayed.

Goddess prayed to thayumanavar to subside his anger ,and storm stopped,many houses were without shelters.

hence goddess decided to live in a temple without roof,until everyone gets shelter.

Thyagarajar temple-Thiruvarur

Sri Thyagarajar temple is located in thiruvarur district.

It is one of the famous hindu temple.

Classified as paadal petra sthalam.

Some important sannithis to see are neelothmbal sannithi,kamalambal sannithi.

The praharams is very big .

Tiruchendur -Murugan temple

Tiruchendur is a famous murugan temple and it is one among the  6 arubadaiveedu.
This is not a hill temple .There is a big samudram and nazhi keenaru.
One can take a dip in the samudram and need to pay 1 or 2 rupees and can take bath in the nazhi keenaru.People mostly who visit the temple will do this to get the blessings of the almighty.

Good facilities are there to keep the baggage and wash rooms are also there .
There is also valli cave ,so one can even go and see.There are many temple escorts who will guide when we enter the temple.

Mostly everyone knows this piece of information , that is even during tsunami ,water did not enter the sanctum.

Nelliappar and Gandhimathi-Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli is a famous place and in and around there are very big and ancient temples.one famous temple is nelliappar and gandhimathi temple.

Legend behind this temple:

Earlier Tirunelveli is called by some other name and there was one farmer and he used to store paddy and worship lord.

One day due to heavy rain ,he scared that all paddy will be spoiled and prayed god.

So,with blessing of god,the paddy was protected by a fence and hence name is nelliappar..

The praharam is big and there are musical pillars where we  can hear different sounds when we tap it,then sahasranamam lingam is there.

Shivan sannithi and ambal sannithi is there and theppakulam can be seen.

When you visit the temple you can explore and learn many things.

Srivilliputtur

Srivilliputtur is a temple town and one of the 108 divya desams of lord sri vishnu.Aandal sannithi is very famous here.

The main attraction is the rajagopuram ,which is tallest towers of temple in tamilnadu and finds its place in emblem of Govt.of Tamilnadu.

From here rajapalayam and sivakasi is nearby.For eatables milk khoa is famous in this place.

Malaikottai /Ucchipillaiyar temple

This temple is also in trichy and a very famous temple known to all in south .Ucchi pillaiyar is located on the peak of the rock fort hill.Need to climb over 400 steps to reach the pinnacle.One has to cross Thayumanavar temple which is located on the way to the peak.

So this temple is a collection of three temples -Manikka vinayaka at the foot of the hill,thayumaanava swamy on the way to ucchi pillaiyar,and ucchi pillaiyar at the top of the hill.

one can see Jeerageswarar ,one can pray to this god for getting cured from illness like fever etc.

Samayapuram

This temple is very famous and situated in Trichy.

Samayapuram amman is known to all and after marriage mostly the couples visit the temple with their family .

It is believed that goddess has enormous power to cure illness ,hence devotees buy metallic shape replicas and put in donation box.

The goddess statue is made of sand and clay and hence the abishekam is made in small stone statue in front of it.

Vaanamamalayan

This temple is situated in Nanguneri.

Here vishnu is called Thotadrinaathan.

It is called Booloka vaikuntham

Legend:
Vishnu vanquished demons,bhudevi fearing that she lost her purity,meditated upon vishnu at this shrine,vishnu believed to have blessed her and taken this abode,along with consorts sridevi and bhudevi as in vaikuntham.

Sree ananda padmanabaswamy temple

1.It is one of the 108 divya deshams.

2.The idol is made of 12,000 saligramam.

3.The deity can be viewed from three doors that is  First door-vishnu head and shiva in arm.

Second door-sridevi and bhoodevi ,Third door-bhoodevi, lord feet and koundanya muni.

 4.Here the temple is so very good and the praharams are so very big and beautiful.

 5.Here ladies should wear saree and salwars and gents should wear dhoti.

6.Shops are there who sell dhotis to wear inside the temple.

This temple is near trivandrum and people who travel can stay there ,see temple and go to nearby places.

Suchindram

Place:Located near kanyakumari

This temple we went with family members and famous temple for lord Aanjaneya.

1. Here lingam represents Brahma down,middle Vishnu,top-shiva.

2. Legends say Indra got purified here and hence name is suchindram.

3. Navagrahas are seen on the upperside ,and not usually seen navagrahas.

4.T here are many musical pillars where we get the sounds and also architecture is so very

good.

Make a visit to this temple when you travel kanyakumari. 

Tanjore big temple

This was the first ancient temple where I went after my marriage.

A very good temple  and this temple should be visited by all.

Things to see:

1. Huge cap stone at the top of the temple.

2.This temple is constructed by Raja raja cholan .

3.Big nandi is there which you can see ,enjoy seeing the temple 

architecture.

4.From trichy it is nearby and can travel by road.
