Krishnapuram-Tirunelveli

Krishnapuram is an ancient temple and located near tirunelveli enroute to tiruchendur.

The main deity is venkatajalapathi.

There are wonderful pillars of statues depicting one significance.One can closely observe  the nerve,nails,flesh in each statue.

There is a pillar of kuravan and kurathi,dancing girl,karna.

one could visit  this temple while travelling to tirunelveli or tiruchendur.

Madurai meenakshi amman temple

If anyone says madurai we tell meenakshi amman temple.Yes,this temple is so very beautiful and there are lot many things to see .

Here ambal and shivan sannidhi is there ,so one could go to both these two sannidhis ,and while circumbulating one can see Mukoorni vinayakar.

Mukoorni vinayakar:
During vinayaka chathurthi with mukoorni rice ,modhakam will be prepared and offered to god,which is auspicious one.

vibudhi pillaiyar:
This pillaiyar is seen near one of the entrance,where the idol is full of vibudhi ,few take handful and drop on the vinayaka idol.

There are east ,west,north and south entrance to go inside the temple,and  one can also see 1000 pillar mandapam,pottramarai kulam.

Opposite to meenakshi amman temple one suyambu hanuman temple is seen.
 
Thirumalai nayakar mahal is also another place to see.This is kings palace and museum is also there.

Enjoy seeing the place,and also dont forget to taste Jigarthanda,it is famous in madurai.





Vekkali amman temple-Woraiyur

This temple is in woraiyur ,and there is no shelter for goddess.

Amman is facing north side and it is believed by ancient kings that gods and goddess who is facing north will bless the kings with victory in battle.

Hence kings worship this temple before going to battle.

Sarama rishi lived in woraiyur having wonderful  garden,with rare flowers.He used to worship thayumanavar swamy of trichy everyday offerring garland made of flowers  from garden.

A local florist pranthakan saw beauty of flowers,and started taking from the garden ,to keep himself in good book of the king.

The sage found that he is culprit and complained to king.King did not hear this.

With much grief sage went to Thayumanavar praying to put an end to his activity.

Lord turned wild after hearing this and god was facing east till then ,he turned facing west with powerful eyes emitting anger which resulted in huge sand storm and spoiling whole city.

All places were covered with sand and all went to goddess and prayed.

Goddess prayed to thayumanavar to subside his anger ,and storm stopped,many houses were without shelters.

hence goddess decided to live in a temple without roof,until everyone gets shelter.







Thyagarajar temple-Thiruvarur

Sri Thyagarajar temple is located in thiruvarur district.

It is one of the famous hindu temple.

Classified as paadal petra sthalam.

Some important sannithis to see are neelothmbal sannithi,kamalambal sannithi.

The praharams is very big .

Tiruchendur -Murugan temple

Tiruchendur is a famous murugan temple and it is one among the  6 arubadaiveedu.
This is not a hill temple .There is a big samudram and nazhi keenaru.
One can take a dip in the samudram and need to pay 1 or 2 rupees and can take bath in the nazhi keenaru.People mostly who visit the temple will do this to get the blessings of the almighty.

Good facilities are there to keep the baggage and wash rooms are also there .
There is also valli cave ,so one can even go and see.There are many temple escorts who will guide when we enter the temple.

Mostly everyone knows this piece of information , that is even during tsunami ,water did not enter the sanctum.


Nelliappar and Gandhimathi-Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli is a famous place and in and around there are very big and ancient temples.one famous temple is nelliappar and gandhimathi temple.

Legend behind this temple:

Earlier Tirunelveli is called by some other name and there was one farmer and he used to store paddy and worship lord.

One day due to heavy rain ,he scared that all paddy will be spoiled and prayed god.

So,with blessing of god,the paddy was protected by a fence and hence name is nelliappar..

The praharam is big and there are musical pillars where we  can hear different sounds when we tap it,then sahasranamam lingam is there.

Shivan sannithi and ambal sannithi is there and theppakulam can be seen.

When you visit the temple you can explore and learn many things.

Srivilliputtur

Srivilliputtur is a temple town and one of the 108 divya desams of lord sri vishnu.Aandal sannithi is very famous here.

The main attraction is the rajagopuram ,which is tallest towers of temple in tamilnadu and finds its place in emblem of Govt.of Tamilnadu.

From here rajapalayam and sivakasi is nearby.For eatables milk khoa is famous in this place.


Malaikottai /Ucchipillaiyar temple

This temple is also in trichy and a very famous temple known to all in south .Ucchi pillaiyar is located on the peak of the rock fort hill.Need to climb over 400 steps to reach the pinnacle.One has to cross Thayumanavar temple which is located on the way to the peak.

So this temple is a collection of three temples -Manikka vinayaka at the foot of the hill,thayumaanava swamy on the way to ucchi pillaiyar,and ucchi pillaiyar at the top of the hill.

one can see Jeerageswarar ,one can pray to this god for getting cured from illness like fever etc.








Samayapuram

This temple is very famous and situated in Trichy.

Samayapuram amman is known to all and after marriage mostly the couples visit the temple with their family .

It is believed that goddess has enormous power to cure illness ,hence devotees buy metallic shape replicas and put in donation box.

The goddess statue is made of sand and clay and hence the abishekam is made in small stone statue in front of it.

Vaanamamalayan

This temple is situated in Nanguneri.

Here vishnu is called Thotadrinaathan.

It is called Booloka vaikuntham

Legend:
Vishnu vanquished demons,bhudevi fearing that she lost her purity,meditated upon vishnu at this shrine,vishnu believed to have blessed her and taken this abode,along with consorts sridevi and bhudevi as in vaikuntham.
